MVMA and MAVT Join Forces to Strengthen Veterinary Technician Practice in MichiganThe Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) and the Michigan Association of Veterinary Technicians (MAVT) are excited to announce a new collaboration focused on advancing the veterinary profession in Michigan. Together, we’ve formed a Joint Task Force to develop a clear, meaningful, and modern scope of practice for Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs). This partnership reflects a shared goal: to ensure that veterinary technicians can use their full training and expertise while supporting veterinarians and delivering the best possible care for Michigan’s animals. The task force is being co-chaired by Michelle Meyer, DVM, a director on the MVMA Board of Directors, and Danielle DeCormier, LVT, VTS, the current president of MAVT.
The task force will bring together veterinarians, technicians, educators, and others from across the state to review current regulations, look at best practices from other states, and recommend updates that strengthen Michigan’s veterinary teams.
The task force will begin its work in the coming week with updates shared as progress continues. Stay tuned for more information on how members can participate and provide input as this important initiative moves forward. |
