2024 Veterinary Technician of the Year

Emilie Witherspoon

Congratulations to Emilie Witherspoon, MAVT's 2024 Veterinary Technician of the Year!

Emilie graduated from Michigan State University in 2018 with a BS in Veterinary Technology. Since graduation, she has worked in Emergency and Critical Care medicine. Emilie currently works at Blue Pearl in Southfield and - when not working - enjoys time with her two puggles and three cats.

Emilie's nominator Megan says of her, "Emilie exemplifies the very best qualities of a veterinary technician, consistently going above and beyond for every patient, whether the case is routine or critical. She gives 110% to every animal under her care, providing not only skilled nursing but also strong advocacy for their well-being. Emilie’s dedication is unmatched; she is meticulous in reviewing every treatment and diagnostic plan to ensure the best outcomes for her patients. Her commitment to knowledge-sharing further sets her apart, as she eagerly passes on her expertise to support and mentor her colleagues. Emilie’s compassionate approach extends beyond the animals she treats—she excels in communicating with clients, offering reassurance and support, especially during stressful situations. In every aspect of her work, Emilie is an invaluable asset to the veterinary field and the embodiment of what it means to be a veterinary technician."
